Ben is a philosophy and education major entering his final year at UC Riverside. His early understanding of the law was shaped at home, growing up with two moms and witnessing them navigate the evolving landscape of marriage equality. Experiencing firsthand the legal disparities between same-sex and heterosexual marriage sparked his awareness of social inequities at a young age. This perspective, combined with the educational disparities he observed while teaching chess in schools across Southern California, inspired his commitment to legal advocacy as a tool for social justice.

For the past seven years, Ben has shared his passion for education through teaching chess. He has since expanded his work to include tutoring LSAT students and leading a course on educational policy at UCR. These experiences have deepened his dedication to promoting equitable access to high-quality information and resources.

Originally from the Bay Area, Ben has made Southern California his academic home and is spending this summer in Portland as an intern at OCJ Law. Outside of his studies and advocacy work, he enjoys hiking, weightlifting, playing speed chess, and spoiling his cat, Jerome.
