As a new coalition, the Consumer Alliance of Oregon has an exciting opportunity to bring consumer issues and solutions into the spotlight this legislative session.

Doing this work effectively means investing in relationships with legislators across the House and Senate, acting as a resource on current gaps in consumer advocacy, and clearly communicating why this alliance exists.

That’s why the Consumer Alliance of Oregon—which is made up of community-based organizations, nonprofits, and national advocacy groups and convened by Oregon Consumer Justice—decided to host its first lobby day in March. We convened 11 out of 17 member organizations for a full day of conversations with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.

Overall, great day! It was a nice opportunity to have a diverse set of stakeholders talk about consumer protection and bring a lot of different perspectives to the conversations.

We focused on building awareness at the Capitol by showcasing the pro-consumer policies we're advocating for and the communities driving our mission. What made this experience especially meaningful was seeing how far we've come—showing up with a strong, unified presence and deepening our relationships with partners and allies.
