A trusted community leader, Marcus brings a breadth of experience, insight, and leadership to OCJ’s board that will help us to realize consumer justice in Oregon.
“The through line of my work these past many years has been seeking justice for the disenfranchised, so joining the Oregon Consumer Justice (OCJ) Board was a seamless and natural extension of the work in which I so passionately believe,” Marcus explains. “Coupled with OCJ’s intense focus on affecting systemic economic change, it should be clear why I was more than excited to join this group of leaders.”
Marcus serves as the Executive Director at the Coalition of Communities of Color, a racial equity focused, 19 member organization focusing on issues of social and economic justice using a racial equity lens. Previously with the Portland based equity, compliance and strategic consulting firm, Mundy Consulting LLC, his practice spanned various disciplines including achieving equity, diversity and inclusion in personnel, contract development and administrative areas; achieving compliance with respect to applicable laws, regulations and accreditation standards; and helping disparate corporate and community entities connect in new and productive ways. Before this work, Marcus served as the President and CEO of the
Urban League of Portland (a civil rights, employment and social services organization), the Vice President and Regional Compliance Officer for Kaiser Permanente Northwest, management level staff at KPMG LLC, and was Treasurer at the Denver Health and Hospital Authority. Marcus has served and continues to serve the community through his participation on numerous boards and community advisory positions.
Marcus attended Howard University in Washington, DC, receiving his Bachelor in Business Administration, and he received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Oregon. He is a Senior Fellow in Oregon’s chapter of the American Leadership Forum, Oregon’s premier leadership training group, for over two decades. Marcus resides in Portland with his family.
“I am delighted to welcome Marcus to the OCJ Board.” shares Executive Director, Jagjit Nagra. “He is a strong leader who will undoubtedly bring exceptional leadership. I believe Marcus’ lived expertise, vast professional experience, and community-focused mindset are an asset to OCJ’s next chapter of growth. I am confident Marcus will provide meaningful thought partnership on multiple fronts and help OCJ center racial equity in pursuit of consumer justice for all Oregonians.”
