OCJ's scholarship program represents one of the many ways that OCJ is living our commitment to advance consumer justice by supporting the continued education and professional growth of consumer attorneys in Oregon. This initiative also offers a path for others to explore, develop, or expand their practice of consumer law.
Program opportunities
Each year, we make scholarships available to attend impactful national conferences organized by the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) and the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA). Scholarship dollars can be applied toward the registration, hotel, flight, and ground transportation costs associated with attending. In the fall, this is the Consumer Rights Litigation Conference (CRLC), a comprehensive gathering of the consumer law community with more than 60 training courses covering major areas of consumer law. In the early part of the new year, Spring Training offers several mini-conferences in one location. Past tracks for attendees have included: trial skills, auto, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
How are scholarship recipients determined?
To be considered for an OCJ scholarship, you must submit the required application form (on a per-opportunity basis) by the stated deadline. Scholarship priority is given to emerging and next-generation private practice Consumer Bar attorneys. OCJ also reserves five seats for public-interest attorneys on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited opportunities are available for students and paralegals who can provide a recommendation letter from a current consumer attorney licensed by the Oregon State Bar.
The application period is open now through August 15, 2025.

The application period is anticipated to begin in February 2026.

OCJ will provide details and a link to apply for each opportunity to our mailing list members on the first day of the application period. Use the button link below to join the mailing list.
