If the commission rules in PacifiCorp’s favor, Oregon consumers would have their rights in court reduced, limiting their access to seek non-economic damages. A decision of this nature would strip consumers of the ability to be awarded dollars to recognize the genuine pain and suffering these events caused. And while protecting the rights of consumers is paramount, we know that non-economic damages also deter bad business practices. We will be tracking this matter closely.
